Hello Farm Friends!!
June means BUSY here at the farm. I hope you enjoy this update from the month and please scroll to the bottom for a complete list of the online events I am hosting!
The Good:
WE HAVE A DATE!! The first Harmony Farms livestock sale is set for August 11th, 2021!! We have about 12-15 head of FULLBLOOD DORPER SHEEP up for sale. Rams, wethers, and a few ewes. A catalog will be posted at HarmonyFarmsDorpers.com around the end of July. Below is a sneak peek at one of the ram lambs up for grabs… So excited to share more as I can!!
The Challenging:
We had 17 inches of rain in just 4 weeks. I know there are so many in droughts right now, so I hesitate to list this as a “challenge”, but so much water in such a short period of time can pose challenges when you are farming sheep (hooves and internal parasites, primarily). If you are waiting for rain, my prayers are with you… and I wish I could ship about 40% of mine your way. Overall, though, I am thankful because the once-a-day move to fresh pasture (plus a whole lot of God’s grace) is keeping the flock really healthy during this season.
